Nearly 2,000 heavy bombs previously withheld by the Biden-Harris administration have arrived in Israel following intervention by President Donald Trump.
The shipment, consisting of 1,800 bombs, had been delayed under the Biden-Harris administration due to concerns over Israel’s military actions in Gaza.
The Biden administration had paused the transfer of heavy munitions after Israel’s strike in Rafah, a southern Gaza city near the Egyptian border, where Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was targeted.
U.S. officials cited concerns over civilian casualties as the reason for withholding the weapons, despite relatively low non-combatant deaths in the attack.
However, with Trump’s support, the shipment was expedited, reinforcing U.S. military aid to Israel.
This marks a shift in policy, prioritizing Israel’s strategic defense needs over previous concerns raised by the Biden administration.
