Ever since Barron Trump graduated high school in May 2024, speculation has been rife about where the youngest Trump would pursue his college education.
The Trump family, known for their penchant for maintaining a level of mystery, had kept this particular detail under wraps—until now.
In a move that surprised many, former President Donald Trump finally broke the silence, albeit in his characteristic teasing manner.
In a recent interview with the New York Post, Donald Trump revealed that Barron has made a final decision on where he will attend college, though the specific institution remains a secret.
“He’s all set in a certain school that’s very good,” Trump shared, confirming only that Barron would be attending a college in the state of New York. However, when pressed further, Trump declined to name the school, stating that they are saving that detail for a later announcement.
The former president was even asked directly if Barron would be attending New York University, but he refused to provide any more specifics.

This revelation has only fueled further curiosity about Barron’s choice of college.
What is clear, however, is that Barron will not be following the path of his rumored ex-girlfriend, Maddie, who is reportedly headed to the University of Miami.
It seems Barron is eager to leave the Sunshine State behind and start anew in New York, far from the warm beaches of Florida and closer to another important figure in his life: his mother, Melania Trump.
Barron’s relationship with his mother has always been close, a fact that has been well-documented over the years.
From an early age, Barron was reported to have picked up his mother’s Slovenian accent, a unique trait that he still carries today. Melania’s protective nature over Barron is no secret, and it was a key factor during Donald Trump’s first term in office.

Melania used Barron’s schooling as a reason to spend minimal time in the White House, and if Trump were to win the 2024 election, it appears that Barron’s college decision would allow Melania to continue avoiding life in the White House.
In March, rumors began to circulate that Melania might relocate to New York to stay close to Barron, should he decide to attend college there.
A source told People, “Melania’s main job is taking care of Barron, and I think it’s possible that she will follow him wherever he goes to school. Melania is all about Barron and her family.
She has always been family-oriented, and in addition to some of the charity work she has done, staying ahead of family issues is her priority. She has a good life.”
According to the same source, one of the family issues Melania is particularly concerned about is Barron’s reserved nature.
Described as “shy and reserved,” Barron may face challenges adjusting to the social environment of college life.

While Melania’s close involvement in Barron’s life is undoubtedly well-intentioned, there is a concern that having his mother nearby during his freshman year could hinder his ability to build an independent social life—a critical part of the college experience.
As the world waits for more details on Barron’s college choice, one thing is certain: the Trump family knows how to keep the public guessing.
Whether this move to New York is purely for academic reasons or is also a strategic decision to keep the family close-knit amid the political whirlwind remains to be seen.
What is clear, though, is that Barron Trump’s journey into higher education will be one to watch closely.
